Privacy Policy
Newcastle Forge LLC does not collect personal information from users of its applications. This page explains what that means in practice.
This policy covers the website at newcastleforge.com and the applications published by Newcastle Forge LLC, including Podland.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. We do not ask for an account, an email address, or a phone number to use our apps. We do not operate a user database, and we do not receive analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or advertising identifiers from the apps.
Data stored on your device
Podland keeps the following on your iPhone, and only on your iPhone:
- Your subscriptions — the podcast feeds you have added.
- Playback state — your position in an episode, playback speed, and similar preferences.
- Downloaded audio — episodes you chose to save for offline listening.
This data is never transmitted to Newcastle Forge. It is included in your iPhone backups if you have those enabled, under Apple's terms rather than ours. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Third parties your device contacts
A podcast player has to fetch podcasts. When you subscribe to a show or download an episode, your device connects directly to the server that hosts that feed or audio file — typically the podcast's own publisher or hosting provider. Those servers can see the request, including your IP address and the general information any web request carries, and they operate under their own privacy policies. Newcastle Forge is not a party to those connections and receives no record of them.
If you install the app through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymised information such as install and crash counts. We cannot identify individual users from it. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
This website
newcastleforge.com is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts, and embeds no third-party content. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard server request logs — including IP addresses — for security and reliability purposes, under its own privacy terms.
Email you send us
If you email support, we keep that correspondence so we can answer follow-ups and track bug reports. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message with anyone. Ask us to delete a thread and we will.
Children
Our applications are not directed at children under 13, and because we collect no personal information, we do not knowingly collect any from children.
Your rights
Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, which makes those requests short: there is nothing to return and nothing to erase. We have never sold or shared personal information, and we will not.
For data held on your device, you are in full control — delete the app and it is gone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a future change involves collecting information we do not collect today, we will say so plainly rather than bury it here.
